Prelude to Darkness

It is said that matter cannot be destroyed or created, it can only change form and function, the same applies to energy, it is only able to change forms and purpose. There are several forms of energy, but for the most part, energy is broken up into 2 primary forms, light energy, which causes actions and things that result in a positive outcome, and dark energy, that fuels bad deeds and leads to negative effects. In all the universes in all realities, there is roughly an equal amount of light and dark energy, and it is meant to always be at balance.

There are times when it seems like a source of great light energy and great dark energy has been destroyed, or banished, and since it is not possible to truly destroy it, one of 2 occurrences can result. The first, and most common, is for the energy just to be dispersed over a large area, continuing the natural cycle, the second, and much more rare occurrence, is for the energy to be forced into the Void, the space between realities and universes, a place where all matter and energy is broken down into its base forms. The latter event has only ever been recorded happening to dark energy.

Since no living organism can survive in the Void, the dark energy had been collecting there for eons upon eons, with no direction, and no guiding force, until one great event in the history of any reality took place, the banishment of a divine being, a God if you will, that has lead to one of the greatest threats known in any reality...

The story surrounding the divine being and how he became sealed away and how he was banished to the void is wrought with arguments and speculation. All that is known is that he was created by three divine beings known as the Powers That Be(or PTB) in their respective reality, and that he somehow angered them enough to be banished, having grown to powerful to be destroyed by that point.

Before him, there had been no occurrence like it, but it was thought the same would happen to him that happened to all else that entered the void... but that was not the case, for his mind survived somehow, and due to its concentration of dark thought, was pulled into the darkness, not breaking down in it, but taking hold of it, the darkness that for so long had sat dormant and quiet, suddenly had a mind and a master, one who became aware of the infinite complexities of the structure of realities and of the existence of so many of them.

The new Dark being, having gained such knowledge and power in such a short time, began to influence other realities, change them, and in some cases, enter them. Whole Realities fell to him and the army he began to amass, made up of the undead souls of all he had corrupted and killed, following that course for Millennia. After much time, as madness had taken hold of him, he finally made his way back to the originaly reality from which he was birthed, much had changed, humans had come into existance in that reality, and yet they were still young, technology was minimum, and they were young in the ways of magic. The one thing that had not changed was the seal, the one that the PTB had made that originaly banished him, that kept him from returning.

The Seal, however, was not perfect, he discovered he could still influence that reality in ways, cause people to make bad choices, make certain decisions, and he began to plan,to plot, to push and twist the world so that one day, the seal would break, and he could finnaly return to seek vengeance on the ones that had tried to destroy him.

His name is feared and only barely known, for those who hear it usually don't live to long afterwards, or end up his slave, but those that do know it fear it, and hide from it, all but the most brave of men shudder at its very mention, the master of Darkness, Simply known as, Cian Delano...
